Senior Year Math Experience OptionsIf you participated in the Early Assessment Program (EAP) and earned an EAP Math Status of "Conditionally Exempt," you can change your math status to "Exempt" by successful completion of one of the approved Senior Year Math Experience options below (including a new eLearning Option) during your senior year. Option A: An Approved High School CourseEarn a grade of C or better in a yearlong approved high school course during your senior year. The following courses are approved by the CSU:
Any other yearlong high school math course that has Algebra 2 as a prerequisite. Any yearlong high school statistics, physics, or chemistry course that meets both of the following criteria:
Option B: A Specially Approved High School CourseAny course that is specifically approved by the CSU Mathematics Faculty Validation Committee prior to the student's senior year. Your high school counselor will have a list of any special courses that have been approved at your school. High schools must submit a course proposal to the Validation Committee for approval. Option C: An Approved eLearning ProgramSome eLearning programs qualify for the Senior Year Math Experience when use of them is monitored by a teacher-mentor from your high school. See the eLearning Student Guide for requirements. Option D: An Approved Community College CourseComplete and earn a grade of C or better in an intermediate algebra course offered at a California Community College before high school graduation. Any math course for which intermediate algebra is a prerequisite also qualifies. Please note that you must meet the community college prerequisite and diagnostic standards to enroll in such a course. In addition, permission from your high school counselor is required for simultaneous enrollment in high school and community college. |
