Options for meeting the ELM Requirement
If you don't participate in the
Early Assessment Program (EAP), other options for meeting the ELM Requirement are:
Achieving a sufficiently high score on
certain standardized exams such as the SAT;
Achieving a sufficiently high score on the
CSU ELM Exam;
Earning a grade of C or better in a qualifying quantitative reasoning course at a community college.
IMPORTANT: If you do not satisfy the ELM Requirement before you begin your freshman year at CSU, you will be required to complete up to 3 semesters of ELM Equivalent Coursework prescribed by the CSU campus you are attending within the first year of attendance. This non-credit coursework will not count toward your degree. If you fail to complete this coursework with a grade of C or better within the first year of attendance, you will be dismissed from the university. Listen to college freshman who are taking this coursework now.
