Helping you map your way to success in math

Options for meeting the ELM Requirement

If you don't participate in the Early Assessment Program (EAP), other options for meeting the ELM Requirement are:

• Achieving a sufficiently high score on certain standardized exams such as the SAT;
• Achieving a sufficiently high score on the CSU ELM Exam;
• Earning a grade of C or better in a qualifying quantitative reasoning course at a community college.

IMPORTANT: If you do not satisfy the ELM Requirement before you begin your freshman year at CSU, you will be required to complete up to 3 semesters of ELM Equivalent Coursework prescribed by the CSU campus you are attending within the first year of attendance. This non-credit coursework will not count toward your degree. If you fail to complete this coursework with a grade of C or better within the first year of attendance, you will be dismissed from the university. Listen to college freshman who are taking this coursework now.
