Submitting a Course Proposal

One goal of the Early Assessment Program (EAP) is to encourage high school seniors to take advantage of their senior year to maintain their math readiness for entry-level college work. This is especially important for students whose EAP status is "Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level mathematics courses - Conditional."  Those conditionally ready students who earn a C or better in both semesters of an approved senior year math course meet the CSU ELM requirement.

The approved courses require conditionally ready students to engage with math in a way that maintains their skills at or above the Algebra II level. The CSU recognizes that high schools may offer specialized courses that meet this criterion but are not on the list of approved courses. For such a course, a teacher or counselor may submit a proposal for approval by the CSU Mathematics Faculty Validation Committee by providing the following items:

  • A course description including prerequisites
  • A typical syllabus
  • One or two typical textbook citations
  • A list of the topics and description of the features that improve or enhance the understanding of Algebra II topics

Proposals should be submitted in electronic format (MS Word, RTF, or PDF) to:

[email protected]

OR on paper to:
