Helping you map your way to success in math

Welcome Counselors, Teachers, and Administrators!

The Math Success website has been created by The California State University (CSU) to support students in meeting the CSU Entry Level Math (ELM) Requirement, and in being better prepared for college courses requiring quantitative reasoning. The site has two main functions:

  • To provide clear and authoritative information about meeting the CSU Entry Level Math (ELM) Requirement through a variety of options.
  • To provide students with an opportunity to become familiar with the ELM Exam and access to some online tools for assessment and preparation. Students have the choice of taking a short (10-problem) practice quiz, a longer ALEKS assessment which provides a detailed analysis of the student’s strengths and weaknesses, or a self-administered set of 50 ELM practice problems. An online ALEKS ELM Tutor is also avaliable at special CSU pricing.

Features of the site include:

We hope teachers and counselors will direct students to this site to learn about their options for meeting the ELM Requirement. Marketing Materials are available for download to assist you in doing this. We also need your feedback on what is useful and what you feel could be improved: [email protected]

Use the site map link at the top of the page to facilitate quick navigation to all the resources on the site.
