12th Grade Expository Reading and Writing Course

CSU faculty, K-12 English teachers, and state curriculum specialists have developed a series of assignments based on non-fiction texts to use in a 12th grade expository reading and writing course. The course is designed to prepare students for college-level English and it is aligned with the English-Language Arts standards.

The course modules, which support the CSU Early Assessment Program (EAP) popup window icon, have been well received by teachers and students throughout California. Julie Detloff, 12th grade English teacher at Ridgeview High School in Bakersfield, has piloted the course modules with her students. In the videos below, Julie provides an overview of the course and shares her experiences integrating the materials into her curriculum.

For more information about the expository course, please visit the 12th Grade Expository Reading and Writing Course Website popup window icon.
