Helping you map your way to success in math

Options for meeting the ELM Requirement

In the past, passing the ELM Exam has been the primary way students meet the ELM Requirement. Now in additon to passing the ELM Exam, there are the following options:

• Participating in the Early Assessment Program (EAP)

• Achieving a sufficiently high score on certain standardized tests such as the SAT

• Earning a grade of C or better in a qualifying quantitative reasoning course at a community college.

IMPORTANT: If you do not satisfy the ELM Requirement before your freshman year at CSU, you will be required to complete up to three semesters of ELM Equivalent Coursework prescribed by the CSU campus you are attending within the first year of attendance. This non-credit coursework will not count toward your degree. If you fail to complete this coursework with a grade of C or better within the first year of attendance, you will be dismissed from the university. Listen to college freshmen who are taking this coursework now.
