Helping you map your way to success in math

If you do the Senior Year Math Experienece, why should you consider taking the ELM Exam?

  • Taking the ELM Exam is a back up strategy in case you don’t successfully complete your Senior Year Math Experience.
  • Even if you do successfully complete your Senior Experience, you may not be able to provide a transcript of this until late June at the earliest. Taking the ELM Exam and having your score recorded in the CSU database will prevent delays in completing your admissions process, signing up for freshmen orientation, and registering for classes in June.

It can take up to six weeks for your ELM Exam Results to be reported to the CSU, so we advise taking the exam as soon as possible after you receive notice of admission to the CSU.

If for some reason you do not pass the ELM Exam, but you do successfully complete the Senior Experience, you will have met the ELM Requirement and should follow the procedure outlined in your Math Success Roadmap to change your EAP Math Status from Conditionally Exempt, to Exempt.

If you earn a score of 50 or higher on the ELM Exam, you have met the ELM Requirement and that score will be automatically reported to the CSU, which means that you won't need to concern yourself with converting your EAP Math Status from Conditionally Exempt to Exempt.
