eLearning Teacher Mentor Guide for using ALEKS

As the teacher mentor for a Conditionally Exempt student completing the CSU ELM Requirement through the ALEKS Tutor, an Independent study plan, you will monitor at least four ALEKS assessments, and meet with your student weekly to discuss progress and offer help as needed.

You will need to complete the Teacher Mentor Certification for eLearning ( Mentor Certification Form) and Verification of Weekly Meetings form ( Weekly Mtg Verification Form).

Standards for Proctoring ALEKS Assessments

  • If not known to you, the student must be positively identified. This may require a picture ID.
  • You should be in the room the entire time the student is taking the assessment. This may take an hour or more.
  • No calculators are allowed on the assessment. ALEKS will provide an online calculator when needed.
  • No notes are allowed on the assessment.
  • Student should complete the assessment in one session.
  • Student should have no interaction with anyone during the assessment. You should not answer any student questions.
